Sedation Dentistry

Dentist Snoqualmie, WA

Dental anxiety, or dental fear, is a widespread feeling. If the thought of even walking into a dental office gives you the chills, you are not alone. Over 50% of Americans suffer from dental anxiety, which can cause them to neglect to get the dental services they need. Our office understands this fear, so we offer many different sedation dentistry practices to help ease your anxiety.

There are many reasons you may benefit from sedation dentistry, also known as sleep dentistry. Here are a few examples of when sedation dentistry may be used:

  • People who have a low pain threshold or very sensitive teeth
  • Those who have a bad gag reflex
  • Patients who are unable to sit still in the dentist’s chair
  • Clients who will have a large amount of dental work completed

If you are curious about receiving sedation during your next visit, let our team know, and we will be more than happy to discuss our different options with you. Our team at Better Way Dental wants to ensure you receive the most comfortable and pain-free dental service.

Nitrous

One of the most common forms of sedation is frequently referred to as “laughing gas” or nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is beneficial for giving you a stress-free, pain-free dental experience. To administer nitrous oxide, we will ask patients to put on a small mask and breathe normally as we begin to introduce the gas into their bodies. The effects of the laughing gas will start within minutes.

Despite its name, laughing gas will not make you start laughing uncontrollably. The gas will cause you to feel light-headed or tingly and create a comfortable feeling in your body. We offer nitrous oxide in our office because it is the safest and most effective option for sedation dentistry. This gas will not put you to sleep but only in a relaxed state of mind where you can still respond to any of the dentists’ questions during your procedure.
